At Eureka Solutions, and probably everyone else in the Sage 200 community, it’s been a hectic period getting customers over the line with their system upgrades. Regardless, our multi-award-winning Sage 200 development team continued to excel and provide bespoke solutions to problems that Sage 200 doesn’t solve out-of-the-box.
Having delivered over 1,000 bespoke development projects, we’re still encountering new problems faced by both our customers and the customers of other Sage 200 Business Partners. As such, we’d like to highlight some of the solutions we’ve developed to enhance Sage 200 over the past few months.
Functionality – PO Authorisation and Budgets
The Problem – Bespoke development provided by the company’s previous business partner needed to be recompiled for the latest version of Sage 200 Professional and to be supported by Eureka Solutions.
The Solution – The project needed re-written in C# as it was previously written in VBscript from the previous development. Then, the forms were converted from Windows forms to Sage forms, with the functionality remaining as close to the original development as possible.
PO Authorisation – With the development complete, purchase orders will now require authorisation from one or more users. For example, these can be set to purchase orders between £100-500 require to be authorised by Manager A and B, whereas purchases orders greater than £500 require authorisation from Manager A, B and C before being processed. Existing orders that have not been amended/resaved will still require the previous user to authorise them.
For the users who can authorise a PO, their functionality includes viewing, authorising or rejecting the order, and will be notified to do so when required. Once the order is authorised or rejected, and email is sent to the creator of the order to inform them.
Budgets – Weekly and monthly budgets can now be imported into Sage 200 via a CSV file, allowing the user to view the details for that year broken down by week. The system uses 7-day weeks based on the financial year start date rather than calendar weeks.
The authorisation functionality was further developed throughout their Eureka Addon product, Purchase Order Plus, to ensure that all functionality was consistent throughout the system.
Functionality – Import Lines
The Problem – The client required a button on the Sales Order/Quotation and Purchase Order screens to import a file which adds lines to the Order/Quotation.
The Solution – An Import Lines button was added to the Enter/Amend screens for sales orders, sales quotations and purchase orders. When clicked, it prompts the user for a CSV file containing order line information such as StockCode, Description and Quantity.
When importing, the file will be validated to ensure the stock codes and quantity are valid, and then add the items to the current order/quotation as standard item lines. If no description is specified, the default stock item description will be used. Once completed, the user can continue processing the order/quotation as usual including amending the imported lines if required.
Functionality – Parcelforce for Courier Integration
The Problem – Our product, Courier Link, previously allowed the user to create shipping labels, generate and store tracking numbers and arrange courier collections within Sage 200. It connected to couriers such as Royal Mail, DPD, Parcelforce, FedEx, NetDespatch, Tufnells, Asendia and APC. However, there was no integration with the widely used ParcelForce.
The Solution – Development from our team has enabled the user to integrate their Sage 200 system with Parcelforce, using a web service API to create a shipment for delivery. This means that the API returns a pdf file containing the label to be printed and attached to the box.

These are just a few short examples of the projects our development team has taken over the recent months, providing our customers with the functionality they need from their system. While Sage 200 has its limitations, there’s no reason why its users need to be limited by them.
